In the summer there is nothing finer than taking a dip, and Prangins has a wonderful place to take the plunge and cool off. The beach at Promenthoux is open all year free of charge, and from May to September you can take advantage of the very good facilities it offers: changing rooms, showers, toilets, seating, a bar and cafe were you can grab a snack, get a drink or have a meal. The beach is sandy and slopes gently into the lake, so it is ideal for small children. There's a grassy lawn under the trees where you can sit comfortably. The beach also permits stand up paddling.

Lake Geneva/Lac Léman has a mite called the duck flea. Remember to rinse off at the shower after swimming to easily avoid their itchy bites.

En été, rien de plus beau que de se baigner, et Prangins a un endroit merveilleux pour plonger et se rafraîchir. La plage de Promenthoux est ouverte toute l'année gratuitement, et de mai à septembre vous pourrez profiter des très bons équipements qu'elle offre : vestiaires, douches, toilettes, bancs, bar et café où vous pourrez vous restaurer, vous boire un verre ou prendre un repas. La plage est sablonneuse et descend doucement dans le lac, elle est donc idéale pour les petits enfants. Il y a une pelouse herbeuse sous les arbres où vous pouvez vous asseoir confortablement. La plage permet également de pagayer debout.

Le lac Léman a un acarien appelé la puce du canard. Pensez à vous rincer à la douche après la baignade pour éviter facilement leurs piqûres qui démangent.

The Geneva English Drama Society (GEDS) is one of the oldest English-language theatre groups in Europe, having been founded in 1933. It has played an important role in the cultural life of Geneva and its many theatrical triumphs over the years have been the result of the dedicated input of its members – some of them with professional theatrical experience, but most of them enthusiastic amateurs. They also have a group for youngsters called The Edge.

The Geneva Amateur Operatic Society (GAOS) has been in existence for nearly 40 years, and stages three or four major shows per year.  Their shows include light operetta, musical comedy, cabaret-style performances and a traditional British pantomime or Christmas show.  They have a Choral Group, organise musical evenings, and have a group for young people, too, The Really Youthful Group – for youngsters up to 20 years.

Simply Theatre is Switzerland’s premier English speaking Performing Arts training school and Theatre Company, located in Versoix. They offer both professional and amateur performances, as well as regular acting classes and camps for children.

You can join the Nyon public library for a nominal fee to borrow books in French, English, German and Italian. There is an arrangement that members of the Nyon library can borrow media from the libraries in Geneva. The library is situated at Avenue Viollier 10, diagonally opposite the Hotel des Alpes/Restaurant Le Perdtemps in Nyon, just adjacent to the Perdtemps car park in one of the oldest buildings in Nyon. There is also a reading room with the day’s newspapers, current magazines and CDs.

Prangins has a library for public school students at the primary school on Rue de la Gare, and children can join the Nyon youth public library (Chemin de Crève-Coeur 3, Nyon--just above Ecole Migros in the Combe Centre) to access a selection of books in various languages.

In Geneva, you'll find a larger collection of English-language books at the Library in English, Rue de Monthoux 3 (opposite the Kempinski Hotel) in Geneva. They regularly have secondhand book sales as well.

Vous pouvez vous inscrire à la bibliothèque municipale de Nyon pour une somme modique pour emprunter des livres en français, anglais, allemand et italien. Il existe une disposition selon laquelle les membres de la bibliothèque de Nyon peuvent emprunter des supports aux bibliothèques de Genève.
